Our client, a well-established business specializing in ink, is seeking an R&D specialist on 1st shift. They are responsible for the synthesis and evaluation of PSA (pressure sensitive adhesives) products. This requires knowledge of chemicals and a basic Excel skill that summarizes measurement data. Monday- Friday. Hours: 8am-4:30pm
Responsibilities:
Improvement to present formulations
Assisting with polymer synthesis; Implementation of polymer synthesis and reaction monitoring in the laboratory.
Measurement of the properties of the polymer resin
Creation of coatings sample and evaluation of adhesive physical properties
Support & evaluate cost reducing initiatives: utilize new and more efficient raw materials; use up old inventory in batches; formulate with existing raw materials when possible
Essential Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry or related field or equivalent advanced knowledge
R&D lab experience in polymer formalization/ quality testing
Demonstrated PSA evaluation skills, First-hand familiarity with PSA applications
Knowledge of raw materials used in PSA
Computer proficiency using MS office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher)
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Can work in a lab setting, sitting, and standing for the work shift
Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment; this may include steel-toed boots, hard hat, safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection
Physical ability to lift and move material (at least 50 lbs.)
