Our client located in Hampshire, IL (located about 50 miles northwest of Chicago) is searching for a Coatings Scientist. 

JOB SUMMARY:
Under minimal supervision, the Coatings Scientist exhibits leadership by mentoring of less experienced scientists and is active with hands-on lab work. This position leads New Product Developments Projects and provides recommendations to Lab Leadership. The position also involves providing technical assistance to Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, and Purchasing Departments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
40%: Formulation & Commercialization of New Products and Assimilation of Acquired Products
25%: Provide Technical Support for existing products
15%: Provide Coaching, Mentoring, Leading as appropriate
10%: Organization, cleaning and recordkeeping
10%: Travel

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Industry Presence
A. Grow toward an Outward Facing Voice and Technical Representative of our client.
B. Provide Participation and Leadership in Technical Associations such as ASTM, CPI, CRC Etc.
C. Travel with Sales Leaders to watch, listen to customers, end users and influencers
Cross Functional Support

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Formulation Skills
Experience and chemical familiarity with at least 3 of the following coatings types:
Waterborne Acrylics, Silicones, 1K Polyurethanes, 2K Polyurethanes, Moisture Cured Polyethers, Concrete Curing Membranes, Asphalt Emulsions, Peroxide Cured Chemistries.
Processing Familiarity & Computer program utilization
Root Cause Analysis & Quality Minded

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
B.S. Degree, or higher, in a Scientific Field – Required
Minimum of 7 Years of Coatings Formulation and Product Launches
