LISTING: Temporary Quality Control Technician

Performs basic quality techniques and quality control testing; to track, analyze and report on raw materials, in processes manufacturing and finished products to ensure they meet the organization’s quality standards. Works with operators, engineers and management to ensure quality products are being produced in compliance with established company standards and specifications.
Comply with all laboratory, plant, and company safety procedures -specifically Chemical Hygiene Plan. Report
all hazardous conditions and incident to the appropriate management personnel. As applicable, take immediate action to address the situation. Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness in the QA/QC Laboratory.
Approves or rejects material based on company, industry and/or customer inspection standards. Inspect, audit and report on materials and/or processes using variable or attribute measuring instruments and techniques.
Assists QC Manager and/or QC Supervisor in scheduling inspection plans.
Generates accurate data. Interpret results and write clear accurate reports of findings along with recommendations for improvement.
Updates production inventory system, complete inspection reports, and maintain quality control records, sample retain program and related documentation.
Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing to ensure quality standards and specifications are in place. Use statistical tools to analyze data and make suggestions to improve process capability.
Serves as a resource to provide technical support in troubleshooting, problem-solving, testing methods:
Prepares daily and monthly quality metrics reports for management review. Coordinates sampling and sample submission for external laboratory testing.
Assists with third party quality management system audits.
Assists monitoring and controlling departmental budgets.
The QC Tech will be responsible for the following specialties in the QC Laboratory
Assists with incoming material testing, reviews and logs CoC and CoA data and analyze for Out of Spec (OOS) conditions. If OOS condition exists communicate it to the appropriate departments, properly identify and quarantine the product, and follow Nonconforming Product process and procedures. Follow through on disposition of materials from NCP or MRB and investigate the root cause as directed. If no OOS condition exists release the product to manufacturing.
Able to use and understand QMS procedures, product specifications and all necessary information to perform inspections on raw materials.
Work with Research & Development, Process Development and Lab Supervisor to make and/or test lab batches and evaluate new raw materials.
In Process Manufacturing & Environmental Testing
Assist with in-process material testing and analyze for Out of Control (OOC) conditions. If OOC condition exists communicate it to the appropriate departments. If no OOC condition exists release the product to manufacturing.
Represent quality department at daily production meeting to provide insight on how to improve process capability.
Finished Product Testing
Assist with finish product material testing and analyze for Out of Spec (OOS) conditions. If OOS condition exists communicate it to the appropriate departments, properly identify and quarantine the product, and follow Nonconforming Product process and procedures. Follow through on disposition of materials from NCP or MRB and investigate the root cause as directed. If no OSS condition exists release the product to manufacturing.
Prepare certificates for customers and consolidate QA/QC reports.
• Plans and prioritizes quality control workload to ensure finish product is shipped to the customer on- time.
Provides assistance in analyzing customer needs, field complaints and claims.
Assist with implementing and maintaining ISO compliant calibration program for measurement and test equipment. Make sure measurement devices and standards are traceable to NIST. Maintain all related records.
Make sure all measurement devices are calibrated and maintained on-time.
Interface with external calibration services to coordinate instrument calibrations and preventive maintenance.
Adjust calibration or preventive maintenance schedule in accordance with company standards. Make sure measurement devices are in calibration or tagged for out-of-service
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Includes education, experiences, skills, physical demands, etc.
An associate degree in chemistry or related field with five or more years of hands-on bench experience as a : laboratory technician, or four year degree required in a technical field, preferably in an
Engineering/chemistry discipline with hands on experience in one or more of the following areas of responsibility: Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Processing Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology.
Either possess or obtain as assigned certifications from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) or comparable organization. ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT), ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT), ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Lean Six Sigma i Greenbelt, Design for Six Sigma Yellow belt , Managing Supplier Performance (AMA), or Supplier Audit, Certification, NCMR (ASQ).
Possesses practical working knowledge of the wet chemistry methods and instruments used in the chemical industry.
Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control (run charts, Xbar Rbar, scatter diagrams, histograms, cp, CPK), Quality Improvement Models, Problem Identification Techniques, Quality Improvement Tools.
Being an active member of ASQ (American Society for Quality) is preferred and would be a definite plus.
